The Short Story: Despite out-shooting the visiting California (Pa.) Vulcans, the Gannon women's soccer team came up short on Senior Day at Gannon University Field Saturday evening. The Vulcan captured a 2-1 victory over the host Lady Knights with a tally in the 53rd minute to break the tied match. Prior to the action, the Lady Knights celebrated the careers of both Justine Rodrigues (Georgetown, Ontario / Georgetown District) and Michelle Genetin (Navarre, Ohio / Perry) as part of Senior Day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Vulcans struck first on their first shot on goal in the 14th minute. Chelsea Crockett fed a pass to Janelle McCann, who ripped the shot off the crossbar as the ball bounced over the line. The goal was McCann's sixth goal of the season.
- Junior Mani Brueckner (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) evened the score in the 36th minute on an unassisted effort. Brueckner's first attempt was stopped by Vulcans' goalkeeper Meghan Jayes, who was unable to collect the loose rebound. Brueckner hopped on the loose ball, tapping in her fourth goal of the season.
- Crockett broke the tie in the 53rd minute with her seventh goal of the season. Erin Hogan assisted on Crockett's game-winning tally with her eighth helper of the season. Hogan recently became the first PSAC player to break the 50 career assists, bringing her career total to 51.
- In the final 25 minutes of play, the Lady Knights had two solid opportunities. Off a free kick by Brueckner, freshman Hannah Manczka (Fairview, Pa./McDowell) was robbed by Jayes on a point-blank shot from 20 yard outs. The second chance came in the 68th minute on a free kick by sophomore Olivia Augustyniak (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) ripped a free kick from 45 yards out with Jayes sliding to make the save.

GAME NOTES
- Freshman Danitza Indacochea (Maple, Ontario / St. Joan of Arc) earned her first career start, recording two saves on the evening. Jayes collected six saves to pick up her sixth win of the season.
- Despite the outcome, the Lady Knights outshot the Vulcans by a 16-13 advantage. The Lady Knights also held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.
- Brueckner led the Lady Knights with five shots, including four on goal. Junior Sammy Valloud (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) and Rodrigues each recorded three shots. The Vulcans were led by Crockett with five shots.
- A total of three corner kick opportunities were awarded, as the Lady Knights claimed two of them.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- In the all-time series against the Vulcans, the Lady Knights move to 11-12-0.
- The Vulcans are currently ranked sixth in the NSCAA Atlantic Region rankings.
