The Short Story: In the midst of a three-way tie for second place in the PSAC Western Division between Gannon, California (Pa.) and Seton Hill, only two teams remain tied. The Gannon women's volleyball team was able to move up one spot in the standings with a sweep of visiting Seton Hill Friday evening at the Hammermill Center. The Lady Knights captured the sweep by set scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-17. 
 
THE BASICS
- Sophomore Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) registered her 12th double-double of the season and ninth straight off 12 kills and 16 digs.
- Junior Lynne Hibbard (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) also reached double figures in kills with 11 off a hitting percentage of .409. Hibbard added three block assists. Sophomore Lauren Beck (Chardon, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) came within one kill of joining Kren and Hibbard in double-digit kills, posting nine kills, three digs and two block assists.
- Leading the Lady Knights' defensive attack was senior Maggie Desrosiers (Uniontown, Ohio/Hoover) with a career-high 22 digs followed by junior Morgan Walters (Girard, Ohio / Girard) with 17 dig and senior Taryn Graham (Huron, Ohio/Huron) with 13 digs.
-  The match featured 16 tied scores and seven lead changes.
- The Lady Knights finished the match attacking at a clip of .289, while the Griffins settled with a .186 hitting percentage.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gannon Lady Knights opened the match with a 25-22 win in the opening set to capture a 1-0 lead over the Griffins. Both teams fired at above a .300 hitting percentage, as the Lady Knights posted a .372 hitting percentage and the Griffins finished at .318. After opening close, the Lady Knights pushed their lead to 10-6 off a 4-0 run. The Lady Knights extended their lead to 19-13 lead to force the Griffins into back-to-back timeouts. Holding a 23-18 lead, the Griffins would not back down from the Lady Knights until a kill by Desrosiers and Beck sealed the win.
- Despite the Lady Knights taking a 15-10 lead in the second set, the Griffins managed to go on a 7-2 run including four unanswered points to tie the set at 17 all. Late in the set, the Lady Knights surrendered the lead to the Griffins, who pushed ahead by the score of 23-22. A kill by Beck followed by consecutive Griffins' attack errors handed the Lady Knights a 25-23 victory and 2-0 commanding lead in the match.
- After tying the set at 8-8, the Lady Knights pulled away for a 14-10 lead over the Griffins following back-to-back kills by Beck. Taking a 16-12 lead, the Lady Knights sealed the win off a 8-2 run including three kills by Hibbard and two by Beck. Sophomore Jordyn Thiery (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) clinched the sweep with a kill for a 25-17 victory in the final set.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Lady Knights improved to 10-1 against Seton Hill, stringing together back-to-back wins.
- In 21 sets at the Hammermill Center, the Lady Knights have yet to surrender one to an opponent.
- The Lady Knights gained one spot on the Griffins in the PSAC Western Division standings with the win. The tie for second remains between the Lady Knights and Saturday's opponent California (Pa.), who have won 12 straight matches.
