No. 8 Gannon Women's Lacrosse Team Hosts Edinboro Wednesday Afternoon in Home Finale: Can Clinch Post-Season Berth with a Victory

The Gannon women's lacrosse team can clinch a post-season berth Wednesday afternoon against Edinboro.
ERIE, Pa. - The No. 8 Gannon women's lacrosse team concludes the home portion of its regular-season schedule Wednesday, April 21 against Edinboro at Gannon University Field. The home finale is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Gannon enters Wednesday's battle with a 9-6 overall record and 4-4 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division mark. The Lady Knights can clinch a spot in the PSAC Tournament with a victory. The squad is coming off consecutive wins against Indiana (Pa.) (16-6) and Shippensburg (15-12).

Mary Eshenour (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) is Gannon's leading goal scorer with 52 scores through 15 matches. The junior midfielder also has 12 assists and 64 points. Taryn Millerd (Shortsville, N.Y./Midlakes) leads the team in points (66), recording 49 goals and 17 assists.

Kayla Nelson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) tops the team's assist chart with 50, needing nine to tie the school's all-time career mark of 182. The senior also has 14 goals and 64 points. Rachel DerCola (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) completes Gannon's group of 50-point scorers. She has 21 goals, 34 assists and 55 points.

Acacia Cook (Clay, N.Y./Clay-NS) has started 14 of 15 matches in goal, producing a 9.99 goals against average and .504 save percentage.

Edinboro brings a 3-12 overall record and 0-8 PSAC West mark into Wednesday's affair. The Fighting Scots snapped an 11-match losing streak with an 18-12 victory against Tiffin last Saturday.

Senior Kristin Sann and sophomore Abbey Mackessy leads the Boro attack with 29 goals each. Senior Julie McAvory has started every match in goal, producing a 17.99 goals against average and .344 save percentage.
