Gannon Swimming Beats Wheeling Jesuit in Tri-Meet Saturday

Seth Hazlett won three events for Gannon Saturday to help the Golden Knights beat Wheeling Jesuit.
CALIFORNIA, Pa.-The Gannon men's and women's swimming teams competed in a tri-meet at California (Pa.) University Saturday afternoon. The men beat Wheeling Jesuit 142-92, while the women split their two matchups. They beat WJU 181-42 and fell 116-107 to Cal.

The Golden Knights were led by Seth Hazlett (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area)
and Mitchel Meighan (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park). Hazlett took first in the 50 yard freestyle, the 100 yard butterfly and the 200 butterfly, while Meighan won the 500 freestyle and 400 individual medley. Greg Evanoff (McKean, Pa./General McLane) took gold in the 200 yard freestyle and James Lilly (Bowie, Md./Bowie) won the 200 breaststroke. Josh Marzilli (Riverview, Fla./East Bay) touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle, while Taylor Corn (Independence, Ohio/Independence) took first in the 200 backstroke, and Joe Wagner (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) won the 1000 freestyle. Connor Wolf (Canton, Ohio/Central Catholic) placed first in the 100 breaststroke event.

For the Lady Knights, Sam Bluhm (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) won the 100 backstroke and Lauren Myrick (Erie, Pa./McDowell) won the 200 butterfly.

Gannon will next travel to Cleveland State Tuesday, November 11 at 3 p.m.
