Morrison was also named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Pitcher of the Week after going 1-0 with a 1.64 earned run average and .184 opponent average while logging 11 innings during two starts last week against California (Pa.) and Mercyhurst. The sophomore right-hander limited the opposition to a .190 average (4-21) with runners on base and .167 average (2-12) with two outs. The highlight of the week was his two-hit shutout during a 4-0 victory against rival Mercyhurst last Saturday, snapping the Lakers' 18-game winning streak. The Lakers are tabbed No. 1 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) national rankings. Morrison faced his biggest jam in the sixth inning when Mercyhurst put runners on second and third base, before he froze Matthew Schneider on a called third strike to end the threat. Morrison then ended the contest by striking out the side during the top of the seventh inning. He improved to 5-1 with a 101-pitch outing against the Lakers, allowing only two hits and striking out a career-high eight. In the process, he recorded his first career shutout and second career complete game. Morrison helped Gannon defeat a team ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II for the first time in program history while posting its first victory against a nationally-ranked opponent since a 7-2 win versus No. 9 Seton Hill at McConnell Family Stadium on April 17, 2015. Saturday's victory snapped a streak of seven straight losses against nationally-ranked teams. The Hamilton, Ohio, native began the week with four innings against California (Pa.), before receiving a no-decision after leaving with a 3-2 lead. Morrison allowed two runs on five hits, striking out two and walking two. He lowered his ERA 114 points with last week's two starts. Morrison leads Gannon in ERA (4.69) and wins (5).
