Costa helped the Gannon wrestling team place second out of 15 teams at last weekend's NCAA Division II Super Regional One, representing the Golden Knights' best team finish since 2010. The redshirt sophomore qualified for his first career national championship appearance after finishing runner-up in the 184-pound weight division. He went 2-0 during the first day, before posting a 9-5 victory against No. 6 seed Mike Green of Mercyhurst during the championship semifinals. The run pushed Costa's win streak to eight matches since he returned to the mat on January 14. His championship run fell just short in the finals against the top-ranked 184-pound wrestler in NCAA Division II. Costa enters the NCAA Division II National Championships with a 10-2 overall record.
