Sam Bluhm led the Gannon women's swimming and diving team to a fourth-place finish out of 14 teams at the 2009 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships in Mechanicsburg, Pa. The true freshman finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:05.6), setting a school record in the process. She also took fourth in the 200-freestyle (1:53.83). Bluhm was the second leg on the national-qualifying 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:31.03) which finished third and set a school record. She anchored the 800-free relay team (7:46.43) which placed second and finished 11th in the 200-backstroke (2:10.37), setting a school record in the event.
