Cox led the Gannon baseball team in average (.385), runs (6), doubles (2), RBIs (4) and on-base percentage (.529) during eight games last week at the Russ-Matt Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida. The sophomore recorded a hit during six of eight games. He went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI against Ashland, before going 2-for-3 with two runs against Northwood. Cox finished 2-for-5 with one run and two RBIs during a 3-0 extra-inning victory against Findlay. The Dorchester, N.J., native also performed well on the mound, finishing the week with a 1-0 record and 1.12 earned run average. Cox struck out 14 while limiting the opposition to a .143 average in eight innings of work. During a 4-3 victory against Ohio Dominican, he struck out 11. Cox has reached double digits in strikeouts during two of his first three starts this season.
