Cox hit .464 (13-28) during eight games last week against Slippery Rock, Lock Haven and Clarion. The junior produced a 1.107 slugging percentage with 31 total bases and a .500 on-base percentage. He hit. 467 (7-15) with runners on base, .545 (6-11) with runners in scoring position and .600 (6-10) with two outs. His 13 hits included three singles, five doubles, two triples and three home runs. Cox ended the week with a seven-game hit streak, scoring at least one run in every game and having an RBI during five of those seven contests. He had three multiple-hit games, giving him eight this season. Cox went 6-for-7 with four runs, six RBIs, one double, two triples and two home runs during a doubleheader sweep of Clarion last Saturday. He finished 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBIs, two triples and one home run during the opener. It was the first four-hit game by a Golden Knight since Mark DeVita went 4-for-4 against Indiana (Pa.) on April 19, 2014. His three runs represented a career-high and his four RBIs tied a career-high set March 16 against Pitt-Johnstown. Cox went 2-for-3 with one run, two RBIs, a double and a home run in the nightcap. He moved into a tie with Michael Tomko (2010-13) for third place all-time at Gannon with his 15th career home run. His eight home runs this season represent the second-highest single-season total in school history (Fran Pattonrick holds the record with nine in 1968). Meanwhile, he threw six shutout innings against Clarion during his only start on the mound, striking out 13 while allowing only three hits. Cox reached double digits in strikeouts for the fourth time this season. His 13 strikeouts were one shy of his season-high set March 1 against Findlay.
