Rankie was also named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The redshirt senior linebacker led the Gannon football team to a 31-21 victory against Indiana (Pa.) that clinched a share of the PSAC Western Division title last Saturday. It represented the Golden Knights' first divisional title in program history. Rankie tied a season-high with a team-high 11 tackles. He recorded two sacks in a game for the second time during his collegiate career. Rankie jumped Dan Tomko (2003-06) and moved into sixth place all-time at Gannon with 271 career tackles, needing three more to move into Gannon's all-time top five. The Lockport, N.Y., native was consistent throughout the game with four tackles in the first quarter to go along with three tackles during each the second and third quarters. Rankie produced both sacks on the same drive during the second quarter. Two plays after recording a first-down sack, Rankie ended the IUP drive with another sack on third-and-16. He is Gannon's second-leading tackler this season with 65, having reached double digits in tackles twice during the last four games.
