Turek helped the Gannon wrestling team finish 27th at the NCAA Division II National Championships last weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. The redshirt junior earned all-america status for the second consecutive season with a fourth-place finish, recording the highest national finish in program history by a 125-pound wrestler. It was the highest finish by a Gannon wrestler overall since Zack McKendree placed second at 165 pounds in 2011.Turek became the first Gannon wrestler to be named an All-American in back-to-back seasons since Kevin McElhaney (149) and Frank McGrath (Hwt.) secured all-america honors in 2009 and 2010. Turek is the eighth wrestler in school history to earn multiple all-america awards during their collegiate career. His most exciting victory of the weekend arguably came during the consolation semifinals. Trailing 6-5, he took down Lindenwood's Marco Tamayo in the closing seconds to post a 7-6 victory. Turek concluded the season with a 26-8 record after winning three of five match-ups last weekend.
