Lipp was nearly unstoppable during the Gannon baseball team’s four-game sweep of Clarion last weekend, going 10-for-13 with seven runs and nine RBIs. The senior shortstop produced a .769 batting average, a 1.077 slugging percentage and a .778 on-base percentage. Additionally, he was perfect in three stolen-base attempts. Lipp reached base 14 times during 17 plate appearances due to three walks and one hit by pitch. He hit .778 (7-9) with runners on base, .750 (6-8) with runners in scoring position and .800 (4-5) with two outs. The Beaver Falls, Pa., native extended his current hitting streak to six games with hits during all four games against Clarion. Lipp has multiple-hit performances in five straight contests. He opened the Clarion series with a 3-for-4 showing, scoring twice and driving in two runs. Lipp then went 2-for-3 with an RBI during a 4-3 victory in Friday’s second game. On Sunday, he finished 2-for-3 with one run and two RBIs during an 8-2 victory in the first game. Lipp concluded the weekend by going 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBIs, two doubles, a walk and a sacrifice fly during a 20-4 win. His four RBIs during the final game marked the second time in seven days he drove home four runs in a game. His four runs scored during the final game represented a season-high. Lipp raised his average 91 points to a team-high .382 after the weekend. He leads the team in average and on-base percentage (.482) through 24 games.
