Spaeder earned his first career victory for the Gannon baseball team in his third career appearance during a 5-1 victory against Bethel (Ind.) at the Russ-Matt Invitational last week. The redshirt sophomore allowed only one run on three hits during 5 2/3 innings of work, striking out six and walking two. He faced the minimum number of batters through four innings, retiring all 12. Spaeder allowed his first runner when the first hitter in the fifth inning reached on an error. He eventually had a no-hitter through 4 1/3 innings, before allowing a one-out single in the fifth. Spaeder has thrown complete games in all three of his career starts.
