Charles Doane

Doane begins his first season as a member of the Gannon women’s water polo coaching staff. The former Gannon great is one of the best water polo players to ever play for the Golden Knights. He is the school’s all-time leader in goals with 287, out-scoring the next player by 105 goals. Doane also ranks first in drawn penalties (144), second in steals (206) and sixth in assists (75).

The Newnan, Ga., native owns the top-three single-season scoring marks at Gannon. His 83 goals during the 2004 campaign represents the best season in school history. Doane netted 79 goals in 2006 and 65 scores in 2003 for the second and third spots. In all, his four collegiate seasons equaled four of Gannon’s top five as his 60 freshman goals in 2002 ranks fifth. He still holds the school’s single-match scoring record with 10 goals against Slippery Rock on September 13, 2002.

Doane is also listed among Gannon’s best in single-season drawn penalty totals with his 54 in 2004 being the highest single-season total in school history. In all, he owns three of the top seven single-season totals and four of the top 14.

A two-time Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) selection, Doane led Gannon to a 49-43 record during his four collegiate seasons. Three of the four campaigns ended with winning records.
