Morgan Walters enters her fourth season as a member of the Gannon women’s volleyball coaching staff in 2026. A former Golden Knight standout, Walters returned to her alma mater as a volunteer assistant coach in 2023 before moving into a full-time assistant coaching role in the spring of 2024.
Walters has been part of an impressive stretch of success since returning to Gannon. The Golden Knights captured the 2023 PSAC Tournament championship during her first season on the staff before winning back-to-back NCAA Division II Atlantic Region championships in 2024 and 2025.
Working with all positions while specializing in setters and defensive specialists, Walters has helped Gannon players earn numerous postseason honors. During the 2024 and 2025 seasons, Golden Knights collected 32 postseason accolades, including seven AVCA All-America Honorable Mention awards, 14 All-Region selections and nine All-PSAC honors. Gannon also produced the 2024 PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year and 2025 PSAC West Athlete of the Year.
In addition to her on-court responsibilities, Walters assists with practice organization, individual training, recruiting and scouting. She coordinates recruiting visits and assists with team travel while also playing a role in the program’s academic support, alumni engagement and CARA compliance.
Before returning to Gannon, Walters spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Montana State University Billings from 2019-23. She worked with all positions while specializing in setters, running the offense and blocking. Walters also assisted with recruiting, scouting, practices, individual training and academic support. During her tenure, MSU Billings players earned five All-GNAC honors and 22 academic accolades.
Walters' collegiate coaching career also includes time as a graduate assistant coach at Walsh University and as a graduate assistant operations manager at Morehead State University. At Walsh, she specialized in training defensive specialists while assisting with recruiting, travel and fundraising. At Morehead State, she assisted with team operations, travel logistics, practices and home match operations.
Walters also brings extensive experience at the club level. She served in head and assistant coaching roles with Avalanche Volleyball Club in Billings, Montana, and Maverick Volleyball Club in Parma, Ohio. Her experience includes coaching teams at the 14, 15, 16 and 18 levels while focusing on player development, practice planning and technical instruction. She has also worked as a private volleyball coach and has coached volleyball camps since 2008.
A Gannon graduate, Walters was a member of the Golden Knights volleyball program during her playing career. She captained the 2015 team that advanced to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen and earned NCAA Atlantic Region All-Tournament Team honors.
Walters earned her bachelor's degree in communication from Gannon in 2016 and a master's degree in adult and higher education from Morehead State University in 2017.
In addition to her responsibilities with the volleyball program, Walters serves as the primary staff liaison for Gannon's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
