Katelyn Moore

Moore begins her first season as an assistant coach for the Gannon competitive cheer program in 2018.

Moore arrives at Gannon after a stellar collegiate career at Elmira (N.Y.) College. She was a four-year letterwinner (2014-17) for the Soaring Eagles, helping the program finish third in All-Girl Division III at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College Nationals every year.

“Cheerleading has been my passion since I was five-years old,” said Moore upon her hiring. “Cheerleading is often a club sport at most colleges, so an opportunity to come to Gannon which has a varsity cheerleading program like Elmira excites me. Gannon’s program has been growing and I want to help continue that growth.

“Gannon offers student-athletes a great way to continue their cheerleading careers and receive an excellent education while doing what they love. I am so excited to be part of Gannon’s growing competitive cheerleading program and help the team achieve success for years to come.”

Individually, Moore was recognized as an NCA Collegiate All-American as a junior and senior (2016 and 2017) at Elmira. As a senior, she was named a STUNT honorable-mention All-American and Elmira College Female Athlete of the Year. The Syracuse, N.Y., native previously cheered at Cicero-North Syracuse (N.Y.) High School and the CNY All-Stars.

“Katelyn competed at an extremely high level as a collegiate student-athlete and brings a wealth of first-hand experience as a top in baskets, group stunts, and pyramids while also being an elite tumbler,” said Foran upon Moore's hiring. “Combined with her passion and enthusiasm to pursue a career coaching at the collegiate level, that resume makes her an excellent fit for our program. I know our student-athletes will benefit greatly from her expertise.

“In addition to coaching both our all-girl and co-ed teams, Katelyn will play a large role in our recruitment activities, specifically in upstate New York and the Northeast region. She will also assist with our gameday cheer program.”

Moore received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Affairs from Elmira in June of 2017.
