Gannon University Director of Athletics Meghan Morphy didn’t have to go far to find her replacement. On August 11, 2025 Morphy announced the addition of Edwin Voll to her staff as Assistant Athletic Director for Budget & Planning.
Voll has served as the Assistant Director for Student Employment since December 2021, along with serving as an adjunct lecturer in the history department. A valued friend and supporter of the athletics program in his time at Gannon, Voll now becomes a key member of Morphy’s staff.
“Ed has been a steadfast supporter of our student-athletes and staff since he first started at Gannon,” concurred Morphy. “His experience in budget management, knowledge of institutional policies and processes, and genuine commitment to supporting positive student experience on our campus made him a clear choice. We are excited for Ed to officially become part of our team as he joins us in this role.”
In his new role, Voll will oversee the department’s budget management and lead the daily business operations. His duties will also include NCAA/federal financial reporting, strategic planning and resource management, and student worker management.
“I am excited to transition into this new role at the University in the Athletics Department,” related Voll. “Thank you to Athletic Director Meghan Morphy for this opportunity to support the coaches and their programs as they strive for further success at the conference and national level. Go Knights!”
Voll has a background in athletics outside of Gannon. While an undergraduate student he was an offensive lineman on the SUNY Brockport football team that reached the NCAA Div. III Playoffs his final three seasons.
In his spare time Voll serves as an event supervisor for the Tarian Group out of Amherst, N.Y. and works security for Erie Events. At the Tarian Group he manages a team of staff to ensure the safety and success of events such as concerts, festivals, and sporting events for 20 years. In that role he has worked numerous events in the Erie area along with working security during games for his beloved Buffalo Bills.
Voll began his career in education as a teacher in the Panama Central School District in 2003 while also serving as a coach in football and track & field. He later served as a teacher in the Caledonia-Mumford School District from September 2005 to September 2010, followed by a four-year stint as principal with Baker Victory Services in Lackawanna, N.Y. He oversaw a private, special education school of over 100 students with behavioral and emotional disabilities.
Voll has also served as a hiring specialist at US Security Associates in Buffalo; as a senior account manager at Trusted Nurse Staffing in Buffalo; and came to Erie in August 2020 as an account executive at Verify Services.
A native of Lancaster, N.Y., Voll received his Bachelor of Science Degree in History from SUNY College at Brockport in May 2003 and completed work on his Master’s Degree in Education – Social Studies Education in May 2008.
Voll and his wife Jen have three children -- Katerina, a junior at Gannon, Benjamin, who is entering his freshman year at Gannon, and Ryan, a freshman at Lees McRae. Ryan was one of the top boys lacrosse players in the Erie area and will continue his career in college.
