Assistant Coach Chris Miller

Chris Miller

Miller begins his first season as a member of the Gannon coaching staff, but there is no introduction needed for Gannon fans after he concluded one of the best collegiate careers in school history last season.

The Franklin, Pa., native was a four-year starter at first base for the Golden Knights. Miller concluded his career second all-time at Gannon in games played (189) and at-bats (587), finishing one shy of the school record in both categories. He ranks third all-time in hits (161), sixth in RBI (82), seventh in walks (64), and 10th in doubles (27).

Miller earned All-GLIAC honorable-mention accolades as a junior after hitting .261 with 23 runs, nine doubles, and 23 RBI. His best season arguably came during his sophomore campaign when he hit .337 with 28 runs, seven doubles, and 34 RBI.

Miller's sophomore campaign in 2006 produced some of the best single-season totals ever at Gannon. He had numbers listed among Gannon's best single-season marks in hits (61, 6th), RBI (34, 8th), and on-base percentage (.410, 12th).

Defensively, Miller proved to be an all-around player. He owns two of Gannon's top five single-season fielding percentages, producing a .995 (3rd-highest) mark as a sophomore and .991 (5th-highest) mark as a senior. Miller also has the top three single-season putout totals in school history with 412 as a sophomore, 297 as a senior, and 294 as a junior.

Academically, Miller also proved to be the perfect student-athlete. He was a member of the GLIAC All-Academic team and the Gannon Dean's List during his playing days.
