Gannon University men’s basketball coach Jordan Fee announced the addition of Brandon Richardson to his staff in September 2023. The first-year head coach has added Richardson to his staff as the strength & conditioning coach.

With Gannon expected to play a fast-paced style the role of strength & conditioning will be more important than ever, and Fee feels Richardson is uniquely qualified to serve in this role.

“Gannon Basketball received a huge boost with the addition of Coach Richardson to our staff.” Fee stressed.  “His track record speaks for itself.  We couldn’t be more excited to have him on board and help us continue to build this program.  His awareness and knowledge of our unique style of play gives him the ability to tailor our work into translatable skills, power, and athleticism.  We’re enthusiastic about this addition and can’t wait to see his impact on our guys both now and in the future.”

Richardson is highly-respected and well-known in the area for his prowess in strength & conditioning. A former standout in football at Edinboro and Slippery Rock, Richardson has served as the strength & conditioning coach at Cathedral Preparatory School since 2019. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Sports Performance Association (NSPA) and brings over 15 years of combined experience from the professional, collegiate and youth levels.

He has been the owner of PRO-FIT of Erie LLC since 2012, training athletes from various schools across the area. He has developed and implemented sport specific strength and conditioning programs to elevate and enhance athletic performance. PRO-FIT was one of the first gyms in Erie to train athletes on the Vertimax.

As the business owner of PRO-FIT, Richardson has trained a vast range of athletes and sports; from working professionals with nominal experience in fitness to professional and amateur athletes alike. He approaches fitness as a lifelong behavior modification focusing on keeping athletes healthy and continuous improvement.

Those athletes include the 2020-21 Cathedral Prep boys basketball team that won the PIAA state championship, along with the Villa Maria swimming & diving teams that won back-to-back state championships in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

“Being selected as the Gannon Men’s Basketball Strength & Conditioning Coach is a dream come true for me,” Richardson commented.  “I’m blessed and honored to be in a position where I can help athletes develop themselves both on and off the court.  I’m thankful I can help these athletes in their journey to becoming great students, great basketball players, and most importantly, men of character and class.  Everything earned, not given!”

A native of Euclid, Ohio. Richardson graduated from Euclid High School where he was a multi-sport Varsity athlete. He was inducted into the Euclid Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 for his accomplishments as a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball.

Richardson began his collegiate career as a tight end at Edinboro before transferring to Slippery Rock, where he would earn All-PSAC West honors twice. He received his bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies in 2006. He went on to play professionally for the Erie River Rats and the Erie Express, playing running back, linebacker and quarterback.
