Former Gannon University wrestler Gehrig Hutchison was added to head Tom Boyd's coaching staff in September 2024. Hutchison will serve as an assistant coach for the men's program while also servings as the strength & conditioning coach for the women's wrestling program.
 
“Gehrig is a welcomed addition to the men’s wrestling program,” related Boyd. “He is an exceptional strength and conditioning coach which will help our guys reach the next level. He is also a former GU wrestler and will be an asset to our guys on the mat. Overall Gehrig can help us toward our goal of winning a National Championship.”

Hutchison earned his Master’s Degree in Applied Exercise Science in 2023. He has previously been serving as the strength & conditioning coach for the Gannon women’s wrestling team since September 2021. He is also employed at Erie Fitness Academy as a fitness coach since May 2022.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Baldwin High School, Hutchison wrestled for the Golden Knights from 2018-23. He mainly competed at 197 lbs. along with also seeing time at heavyweight.
