Williams begins her first season as an assistant with the Gannon women's lacrosse program in 2017. Williams brings a sparkling resume to Gannon after recently completing a standout collegiate career at NCAA Division II Georgian Court (N.J.) University. An attacker during her playing career (2013-16), she was named the Lions’ Most Valuable Player each of the last three years. Williams holds the program’s all-time records for goals (206), assists (145) and points (351). Her leadership skills were on display during the final two seasons when she served as a team captain.
“I’m extremely excited to begin my coaching career at Gannon,” said Williams upon her hire. “It’s a program that has a strong tradition on the field, in the classroom and in the community. I can’t wait to begin working with the student-athletes and help the program reach its goals on and off the field.”
Williams played three seasons (2013-15) under Gannon head coach Kerry O’Donnell when she was the head coach at Georgian Court. During O’Donnell’s final season in 2015, Williams was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year after recording 55 goals and 95 points. She led NCAA Division II last season in points (111) and points per match (5.84) Williams topped all conference players in assists (45) and assists per match (2.37) while finishing second in goals (66) and goals per match (3.47). As a result, she was selected to play in the 2016 North-South All-Star Match.
The Egg Harbor Township, N.J., native was a three-time All-CACC first-team selection and two-time CACC All-Tournament Team honoree. Williams still holds the conference single-match records for points (17) and assists (10). During her prep days, she broke the Egg Harbor Township High School records for goals in a season (116) and career (210).
Williams served as a member of the Georgian Court Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for two years, including a stint as Vice President in 2015. Among her many accomplishments with SAAC were the school’s first-ever Athletic Formal, Dodging for Wishes, Adopt a Family and Gatorade Pong to raise money for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
Numerous organizations benefitted from the Georgian Court SAAC during Williams’ tenure on the committee. The long list included Ocean County Crop Walk for Hunger, Make-A-Wish Foundation Letters to Santa, Learning with the Lions in the Lakewood School District, Thanksgiving Baskets, Adopt-A-Family for Christmas, National Women and Girls in Sports Day, Atlantic Coast Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Monthly Visits, Move-In Day and GCU Strong.
Williams graduated from Georgian Court in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
