Gin begins his third season as a women's basketball assistant coach at Gannon in 2018-19. He previously served as the top assistant at Moravian Prep (N.C.) Academy in 2015-16, helping lead the squad to a 22-10 overall record. In addition to participating in the planning and execution of practice, Gin led individual skill development and weight training sessions. He also oversaw film breakdown through the Krossover system.

The Painesville, Ohio, native also spent two seasons (2013-15) as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University. The program went 36-19 overall and 28-4 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) action during his time on the sideline. The Trojans produced 14 conference scholar-athletes, eight conference players of the week, five all-conference selections and one regular-season championship during Gin’s two seasons.

“I am excited to join an amazing coaching staff alongside Coach Brunelli,” said Gin upon his hiring. “I know great things are in store for this team, program and University. I want to thank Lisa Goddard McGuirk and Coach Brunelli for this opportunity to join the Gannon family.”

Gin assisted Trevecca Nazarene in day-to-day operations such as scheduling, budgeting and fundraising. In addition to leading individual work-outs and player development, he directed every team and individual film session. Other duties included video exchange, recruiting and scouting.

“I am excited to welcome Jonathan to the Gannon Women’s Basketball Family,” said Brunelli upon Gin's hiring. “He brings a well-rounded set of skills from recruiting, player development and scouting. Along with those skills, Jonathan’s enthusiasm and passion for the game of basketball is very evident.”

Gin began his basketball career during his undergraduate days at the University of North Florida when he served as a Florida State Basketball Camp Event Coordinator in 2010. He then served as the Intern of Basketball Operations and Video Coordinator at UNF in 2012.

Gin graduated from the University of North Florida in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He later earned his master’s degree in management from Trevecca Nazarene in 2015.

Gin and his wife Skye, whom he married August 17, 2018, reside in Erie, Pa.
