Lowton begins his third season as a men’s soccer assistant coach at Gannon in 2018. He brings considerable experience and knowledge to the program after a stellar collegiate career at Mercyhurst University.
The Wigan, England, native led Mercyhurst to a 9-1-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record as a senior in 2015. Lowton led the conference in goals against average (0.70) and save percentage (.849). He ranked sixth among all NCAA Division II goalkeepers in save percentage and 12th in goals against average.
Lowton came to the United States after spending time at Loughborough University in England where he was a first-team goalkeeper. His playing days included time with the Bolton Wanderers, a professional team in England. He also played with the Prescot Cables, a semi-professional team in England’s EvoStik Northern Premier League.
Lowton graduated from Loughborough University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science. He later received a master’s degree in Exercise Science from Mercyhurst in 2016.
