Higginson starts his second season as one of two graduate assistants on the Gannon coaching staff. He will coach the defensive backs while assisting in film editing and recruiting.
The Poseyville, Ind., native was a standout defensive back at NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan from 2003-06. A four-year starter at free safety, Higginson recorded 171 tackles and 11 interceptions in 39 career games. He posted 134 solo tackles, 75 assisted stops, and nine tackles for a loss (26 yards). In addition to his interceptions, Higginson also recorded 23 pass break-ups.
Higginson intercepted a career-high five passes as a sophomore in 2004, the ninth-highest single-season total in school history. His 55 interception return yards that season rank 13th all-time at Kentucky Wesleyan.
Higginson graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and is currently working on a master’s degree in Public Administration at Gannon.
