Biography

Macias is one of Gannon’s returning starters at guard … is one of Gannon’s quickest players ... considered an excellent all-around player ... has a high basketball IQ ... is a tough competitor ... transferred from Triton (Ill.) College prior to the 2011-12 campaign.

2011-12: Was one of six Golden Knights to play in all 26 contests, starting 19 … converted 87.9 percent of his free throw attempts, leading Gannon in that category while recording the sixth-highest single-season percentage in school history … finished second on the team in assists (59), second in blocked shots (20), third in points per game (9.7), third in three-pointers (27), third in free throws (51) and third in steals (23) … reached double digits in scoring 13 times, including eight consecutive games November 26-January 6 … scored a season-high 20 points during a 98-97 victory at Millersville … added 19 points during a 91-60 win against Cheyney … had 18 points during an 81-67 victory against Bloomsburg … blocked a season-high four shots during an 80-49 win at Lock Haven … dished out at least four assists seven times … grabbed at least four rebounds seven times … hauled down a season-high seven rebounds during a 74-54 victory against Mansfield … hit a three-pointer during 17 of 26 contests.

At Triton College: Played for head coach Steve Christenson … averaged 14 points, 4.1 rebounds and two assists as a sophomore … shot 57 percent from the field, 30 percent (20-66) from three-point range and 77 percent from the free throw line during 33 regular-season games … helped Triton finish 31-6, win the Region IV championship, advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national semifinals and win the NJCAA national third-place game … named to the all-conference first team, all-region second team and the Region IV All-Tournament team as a sophomore … selected as the team MVP and Triton Male Athlete of the Year in 2010-11 … erupted for 44 points against top-ranked Cincinnati State, making 15 of 18 shots from the field and 8-of-10 free throw attempts … earned a 3.0 grade-point average during the 2011 spring semester … averaged 8.5 points while shooting 43 percent from the field, 30 percent (17-56) from behind the arc and 76 percent from the foul line during 28 games as a freshman.

High School: Played for Tony Martinucci at Morton (Ill.) High School … was a two-time all-conference selection … helped Morton win the regional championship … earned all-area and all-city honorable-mention accolades as a senior … led Morton to a 40-38 victory against state power Evanston by sinking both ends of a one-and-one with 1.5 seconds left in regulation.
