Jordan Martz

Jordan Martz enters his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Gannon men's basketball program in 2022-23.
 
Martz has helped Gannon to its best NABC national ranking (#21) during the 2020-21 season. It's highest ranking since the 2012-13 season. The Golden Knights started with an 8-0 record, the best start to a season since 2008-09. The stretch was highlighted by back-to-back wins over then No. 25 Daemen. The Golden Knights proved to be a solid defensive team and were positioned second in the nation in field goal percent defense (38.5), sixth in three-point field goal defense (29.6) and ninth in rebounds per game (41.14).
 
Martz helped develop two All-PSAC West selections in 2019-20. DeAnte Cisero and Frank Webb Jr. were both named to the All-PSAC Second Team for the first time in their careers. In 2021-22, Martz recruited Lance-Amir Paul who become a second team all conference selection.
 
Before coming to Gannon, Martz spent two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks’ G League affiliate Wisconsin Herd. There, he prepared opponent scouting reports and led player development workouts, while also organizing video from practices and games. During that time, he worked with 36 Division I all-conference players, including six All-Americans and consensus All-American Nick Johnson from Arizona. He also worked with Los Angeles Laker two-time NBA champion Shannon Brown, All-NBA Rookie Team member Brandon Jennings and four other first-round draft picks.
 
Prior to his time in the professional ranks, Martz was the assistant video coordinator at Division I Creighton in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2016-17, when the Blue Jays went 25-10 and reached the NCAA Tournament. Creighton started that season 19-1 and reached as high as No. 7 in the nation. Martz worked with a pair of future NBA draft picks in Justin Patton and Khyri Thomas, and also helped develop recruiting materials and player development programs for the Blue Jays.
 
His first full-time coaching position came at Division II Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2015-16. Martz was heavily involved in recruiting, scouting and player development, helping the Trojans reach the Great Midwest Conference final. He helped develop G-MAC Player of the Year Byron Sanford, who went on to play professionally in Germany and Lithuania. As a recruiter, Martz was responsible for landing Devin Whitfield, who would become an all-conference guard during his first two seasons.
 
Martz was a graduate assistant at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania, for two seasons from 2013-15, helping the Falcons go 32-17 over that stretch. He was involved in all recruiting activities, as well as scouting, player development, fundraising and operations. In his first year, he helped coach Rick Van Pelt and the Falcons to a 19-6 record, including a 12-0 start and a ranking as high as No. 15 in the nation.
 
A 2013 graduate of York College (Pa.) with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, he was a member of the Spartans’ 2011-12 Capital Athletic Conference championship team under Hall of Fame coach Jeff Gamber. He earned his master’s degree in Higher Education with a concentration in College Athletics Management from Messiah in 2015.
 
The Hanover, Pennsylvania, native helped lead his high school team to its first winning season in 12 years, and its first district playoff victory in a decade. He received the Hanover Athletics Alumni Award in 2015.
 
Martz and his wife Sara reside in Millcreek Township with their daughter Isla.
