Mester begins his 12th season as a member of the Gannon coaching staff in 2018-19. The Erie, Pa., native serves as the Video/Audio Coordinator for the Golden Knights. He has a solid basketball foundation.
Mester was a two-year varsity letterwinner for the basketball and soccer teams during his prep career at Mercyhurst Prep (Pa.) High School. He began his basketball playing days at Saint Boniface Elementary School, where he was part of the 1994 State Championship team. Mester credits his incredible love and passion for basketball to his elementary school coach Ray Schlaufman, whose inspiration kept him involved with the game.
Mester attended Penn State while majoring in elementary and special education. He then spent two years as a police officer in Ocean City, Maryland before returning to Erie in 2003. Mester has also been instrumental in Gannon’s summer youth camps.
