Morehead begins his second season on the Gannon coaching staff in 2018, serving as an offensive tackle and tight end coach. He helped model an offensive line that paved the way for an offense that ranked fourth among all NCAA Division II programs in rushing yards (278.3), 12th in third-down conversion percentage (48.0), 17th in scoring offense (38.7), 17th in total offense per game (465.5), 25th in fewest tackles for a loss per game (4.64), 42nd in fewest sacks allowed per game (1.45) and 44th in first downs (242).
His offensive tackles were part of a record-breaking season by Marcus Jones in 2017. The Harlon Hill runner-up took the country by storm and earned five all-america awards. He led all divisions of the NCAA in rushing yards per game (197.8) while topping NCAA Division II in rushing touchdowns (29), rushing yards per carry (8.09), total touchdowns (31), points per game (16.9) and total rushing yards. Jones was featured in the October 27 edition of Sports Illustrated as part of the national magazine's "Faces in the Crowd" for his monster season. He was also selected as one of the top NCAA football plays of the week by NCAA.com three times, including the No. 1 play twice.
Morehead came to Gannon after a standout collegiate career at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival California (Pa.). He was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the Vulcans. Morehead started 10 games at left guard as a sophomore, 11 contests at left tackle as a junior and 12 games at right guard as a senior. He helped California (Pa.) produce a 34-10 record during his playing days. Morehead was also part of a PSAC Championship and NCAA Tournament victory as a senior in 2016. A PSAC Scholar-Athlete in 2013, he was named to the California (Pa.) Athletics Director Honor Roll every year.
The Canal Winchester, Ohio, native graduated from California (Pa.) in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and minor in business. He held a 3.1 cumulative grade point average as a collegiate student-athlete.
