Will Giles

Giles enters his second season as a member of the Gannon coaching staff in 2014 after a stellar collegiate playing career in a Golden Knight uniform. He served as the safeties coach during his first season on the staff in 2013.

The Nyack, N.Y., native became the second football student-athlete in the program’s 26-year history to earn Academic All-America status as a senior student-athlete in 2012. He was one of three linebackers named to the first team with a 3.79 cumulative grade point average as a Sport & Exercise Science/Physical Therapy major. Giles was named a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athlete every year during his collegiate career. In addition, he received the Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award the last two years. Giles was named to the Capital One Academic All-District II first team and the All-PSAC Western Division second team as a senior.

Giles was Gannon’s second-leading tackler in 2012 with 91 stops, including 46 solo tackles and 45 assisted stops. He also had a team-high 10 tackles for a loss (34 yards), three sacks (17 yards), a team-high five interceptions and 15 pass break-ups.

Giles reached double digits in tackles during four consecutive games midway through the season, including a career-high 15 stops against nationally-ranked Bloomsburg. His career numbers included 181 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, five sacks, seven interceptions and 22 pass break-ups.
