Nolan Genovese is in his first year as an assistant coach at Gannon in 2021. He will serve as the wide receivers coach.
Genovese was hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Dodge City Community College football program in March of 2019 and spent two years with the Conquistadors. In 17 games at Dodge City, the Conquistadors scored 20-or-more points on ten occasions, including games of 65 and 54 points.
He was an athlete, and a coach under one of the most respected group of five level football coaches in the country and is able to bring with him everything he learned from that fountain of knowledge.
Prior to joining the Dodge City staff, he served as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Middle Tennessee State, from 2016-18. His primary duties at MTSU were working with the offense, and more specifically the passing game. He was in charge of the inside receivers. While coaching at MTSU under head coach Rick Stockstill, he helped to produce one of the best offensive years in school history.
In 2016, the Blue Raider offense set a school record and ranked eighth in the country in total offense. They also set school records in total yards/game, total yards/play, points scored, passing yards and touchdown passes.
Genovese played for Stockstill and the Blue Raiders from 2013 until 2015 as a quarterback. In the spring of 2014, he was named the team’s most improved signal-caller. He played in three games in 2015 against Jackson State, North Texas, and UTSA, completing his only pass. During the 2013 season he played early in the season against North Carolina and Memphis on the kickoff team before suffering a season-ending injury and receiving a redshirt year.
Prior to arriving at Middle Tennessee, Genovese spent two years at Northeast Mississippi Junior College. He played in four games during the 2012 season and completed 30 of 48 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., Genovese lettered in football, basketball, and baseball at Christ Presbyterian Academy. He was named the 2011 Region Player of the Year after passing for 1,964 yards.
Genovese received his bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication in 2015 from Middle Tennessee State. He later earned his master’s degree in professional studies, with an emphasis in strategic leadership, from MTSU.
