Max Spittler

Max Spittler joined the Gannon coaching staff in March 2022. He will work with the running backs. Spittler joins the Golden Knight staff after previously working at Webber International University.

“I’m really happy to add Max Spittler to our staff,” commented head coach Erik Raeburn. “Max is an excellent recruiter and young coach and will make an immediate impact in our program.”

Spittler served as the running backs coach at Webber, an NAIA institution, in addition to assisting with all recruiting operations. He mentored Tremon Bright, who was a first team All-Mid-South Conference Sun Division selection. Bright posted just the second 1,000-yard rushing season in the 21-year history of the program and was the first 1,000-yard rusher since 2015. He finished with 1,024 yards on 209 attempts, a 4.9 yard average, with 4 TDs. Webber averaged 146.4 yards per game on the ground and set a school record for yards per carry.

Prior to joining the Webber staff, the Cleveland, Ohio native was the offensive coordinator at Sarasota High School for the 2020 season. Sarasota reached the Florida Class 7A playoffs for the first time in nine years. He coached three All-Area players, with Terrell Park going to Middle Tennessee State, Jamall Thompson to Samford University, and Dominic Bennett to Findlay University.

Spittler also served as an offensive assistant coach at Samford University, a Division I FCS program, in 2019, working with NCAA champion coach Chris Hatcher. Samford had the top scoring offense in the Southern Conference and ranked in the top 15 nationally in scoring offense.

He began his coaching career at SUNY Maritime College in 2017. In 2018, he served as the wide receivers coach at Valley Vista High School and was part of a district championship team.

Spittler received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Lake Erie College in 2016 after going to Lake Catholic High School.
