Gannon University head football coach Erik Raeburn announced the addition of Bryce Perkins to his coaching staff in late June 2023. Perkins will serve as the tight ends.
“We are excited to add Bryce to our staff,” commented Raeburn. “He is familiar with the PSAC and will be able to help prepare our players for that challenge.”
As Raeburn mentioned, Perkins brings a familiarity of the PSAC with him after playing for California (Pa.) from 2019-22. He appeared in 31 games on the offensive line for the Vulcans, with 20 starts at center. The native of Gettysburg, Pa. earned first team All-PSAC West honors in 2021 and 2022 and was a preseason Division II All-American.
“I’m very honored and blessed to be able to join the staff here at Gannon. Coach Raeburn and his staff are building something special here in Erie and I can’t wait to get to work and be a part of it!”
Perkins anchored a Cal offensive line that helped the Vulcans finish among the top five in the PSAC in scoring offense and passing offense, while more than doubling their rushing total in 2022 from 2021. He began his collegiate career at Division I Towson in 2017 and 2018. He appeared in 10 games with four starts at fullback.
Perkins was also a standout in the classroom while earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management in December 2021. He will complete work on his Master’s Degree in Sports Management – Intercollegiate Administration this August. He was a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, with this year’s honorees yet to be announced, along with a five-time Cal U AD Honor Roll recipient.
Perkins joins the Gannon staff after serving as the tackles / tight ends coach at Gettysburg College since May 2023. He served as a Football Operations Intern at Cal during the 2021 season, managing a recruiting database along with breaking down film and assisting with eligibility of student-athletes.
In the fall of 2020, with Cal not playing the football season due to COVID-19, Perkins was the offensive and defensive line / tight ends coach at Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, Pa. Three members of the offensive line and two players on the defensive line received first team all-league honors as the team posted a 6-1 record and won the YAIAA-3 championship and was the PIAA District 3 Class 1A runners-up.
Perkins was a two-time all-league honoree while playing as a prepster at Delone Catholic. He earned first team accolades both on the offensive and defensive line in 2016 and was a second team choice on both sides of the ball as a junior.
