Temple enters his third season as a member of the Gannon coaching staff. In 2010, he will be the linebackers coach for the second consecutive season after being a defensive assistant during his first season.
His linebackers helped the Gannon defense rank second among PSAC teams in pass defense (172.18) and 28th nationally. Linebacker Matthew Neal-Mink landed a spot on the all-conference team.
Temple was a four-year (2004-07) starter at NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan. The former defensive lineman is Wesleyan’s all-time leader in tackles for a loss (65), yards from tackles for a loss (347) and sacks (31.5). He ranks seventh in total tackles (192), ninth in unassisted stops (146) and 11th in assisted tackles (92).
The Crestwood, Ky., native was a four-time all-conference selection, being named to the All-Mid-South Conference second team as a freshman and first team as a sophomore. Temple then landed a spot on the All-Great Lakes Football Conference second team as a junior and first team as a senior. He was also accorded D2Football.com All-Independent accolades twice, being selected to the honorable mention team as a junior and second team as a senior.
Temple set Kentucky Wesleyan single-season records in tackles for a loss (24) and yards from tackles for a loss (124) as a freshman in 2004. He was previously a standout at national powerhouse Trinity (Ky.) High School, where he was a two-time All-State selection. Temple earned a spot on the Louisville Courier Journal All-State first team as a senior after leading Trinity to an 11-4 record and the state 4-A championship. It was one of three state championship teams that he played on. A two-year starter at Trinity, he landed on the All-State second team as a junior.
Temple earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kentucky Wesleyan in 2008. He is currently working on a master’s degree at Gannon.
