NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER TASKS – FRESHMEN AND TRANSFERS ONLY
All incoming student-athletes must be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center and must receive their appropriate academic and amateurism certifications prior to being allowed to compete. Per NCAA rules, athletic aid will be held until proper NCAA certification is obtained. Please complete all necessary tasks in your NCAA Eligibility Center by
July 15. There will be a delay between the time you complete your tasks and certification decisions by the NCAA. Those decisions are delayed even longer as the season draws closer as every student-athlete in the country at all levels of the NCAA are trying to get certified late in the process. Completion of all tasks by July 15 will guarantee an NCAA certification decision in a timely fashion.
Freshmen must obtain both their academic and amateurism certifications prior to competing. Incoming transfers must have received their amateurism certification, but will not need NCAA academic certification as the Gannon compliance office will conduct a transfer evaluation to verify the student has met appropriate transfer progress-to-degree requirements. A normal misunderstanding is high school transcripts don’t need to be submitted if an academic certification isn’t needed for transfers, but a final high school transcript with proof of graduation is also needed for amateurism certification purposes.
