2008 Fall A Team - Courtney Cook

Membership in the Golden Knight’s “A” Team represents the very best in intercollegiate athletics. Thirty-three students have qualified by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during the most recently completed semester. Gannon’s 347 student-athletes earned a cumulative GPA of 3.22 this past fall semester.

Courtney Cook started off her first semester at Gannon by earning a 4.0 GPA and by excelling on the volleyball court. The middle blocker from Middleburg Heights, Ohio is planning on getting her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and hopes to work with athletes someday.

“I chose to become a Physical Therapist because I enjoy working with and helping people. I have also had PT multiple times and want to be able to help get athletes healthy as quickly as possible, so they can return to playing like others have done for me. Physical Therapy is also a very interesting career that requires a lot of problem solving seeing as how each patient is different.”

Despite missing eight games this season due to an injury, Cook has enjoyed her first season as a member of the Lady Knight’s volleyball team.

“For me, to be able to play a sport in college is such a privilege. Many athletes would love to have the opportunity to play but just do not have the chance. My favorite part about playing is the level of competition. Everyone on the team wants to be the best they can be everyday and it is that motivation that makes teams great and increases my love of the game. The friendships and the lessons I have learned from the players and coaches are also something I will value the rest of my life. “

Cook is also involved in the honors program, Phi Eta Sigma, and she also attends “The Zone,” which is a faith based group for student athletes.
