2008 Fall A Team - Colleen Schwarz

Membership in the Golden Knight’s “A” Team represents the very best in intercollegiate athletics. Thirty-three students have qualified by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during the most recently completed semester. Gannon’s 347 student-athletes earned a cumulative GPA of 3.22 this past fall semester.

Colleen Schwarz earned a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester while playing her last season as a member of the Lady Knight’s soccer team. During her four years as a Lady Knight, she scored 15 goals and earned 37 points. In 2006, she was named to the ESPN Academic All District Team, and in 2007 she was named to the GLIAC All-Academic team.

When asked what she liked most about playing a sport at the college level, Schwarz said, “A big difference between high school and college soccer is that people at the college are playing because they really love it and can't live without it. There are so many sacrifices and hard work that are involved in playing a college sport that you need to really be serious about it to do it. I also love the teammates that can be your roommates, classmates, and your best friend.”

She is enrolled in the Physician Assistant program, and will graduate in May with a Bachelor’s in Health Science. The following August, she will graduate with a Master’s in Physician Assistant Science.

“I choose this career because I always know I wanted to be in the medical field and take care of people. I believe that becoming a physician assistant is the best option for me to do that, without going to school for the rest of my life.”

In addition to academics and playing soccer, Schwarz was involved in Honors, GUSPAS (Gannon University’s Society for Physician Assistant Students), and also held a work-study position for the Dean of Health Science.
