2008 Fall A Team - Stephanie Komorek
Membership in the Golden Knight’s “A” Team represents the very best in intercollegiate athletics. Thirty-three students have qualified by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during the most recently completed semester. Gannon’s 347 student-athletes earned a cumulative GPA of 3.22 this past fall semester.
Stephanie Komorek, a sophomore water polo player, joins the “A” team after achieving a 4.0 GPA for the Fall 2008 semester. She was the top goalie for women’s water polo last season with 118 saves, and was also one of the twelve water polo players to be named Academic All-Americans. Komorek chose to be an elementary/special education major because she loves working with children and has always wanted to be a teacher. Upon graduation, she hopes to teach fourth grade.
When asked what she liked best about playing college sports, Komorek replied, “I love the feeling of being part of a team, it has taught me many valuable skills throughout my life such as how to work together towards a common goal. My goals are to be successful in the field positions both defensively and offensively after transitioning from goal last year.”
In addition to academics and water polo, Komorek is also a Gannon Guide, giving tours to prospective students, as well as a member of the Phi Eta Sigma honor society.
