2008 Fall A Team - Molly Meagher
Membership in the Golden Knight’s “A” Team represents the very best in intercollegiate athletics. Thirty-three students have qualified by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during the most recently completed semester. Gannon’s 347 student-athletes earned a cumulative GPA of 3.22 this past fall semester.
Molly Meagher is a senior elementary education major, and is also a member of Gannon’s Lacrosse team. She has played both midfield and defense during her Gannon career.
“Playing a collegiate sport, while completing my studies has formed me into a well rounded and focused individual,” Meagher said. “Throughout my four years of being a student-athlete, I had to learn how to delegate my time wisely between academics and athletics in order to be successful in the classroom and on the field. Being a student-athlete has taught me self-discipline, dedication, teamwork, and commitment. I also had the opportunity to play and establish relationships with different types of people. Being part of a team forced me to always accept others, regardless of our personal differences. During my collegiate experience I have faced many disappointments. These disappointments throughout my career have taught me how to turn a negative situation into a positive learning experience. I also love being a member of a team and always competing to come out on top.”
Upon graduation, she hopes to continue her love of lacrosse by becoming a coach.
“When I graduate in May I hope to become an elementary teacher in Florida,” Meagher said. “I also plan on piloting and coaching a lacrosse team in St. Augustine, Florida for girls at the middle school level. I chose to elementary and special education as my profession because I have a passion for children and want to make a difference in their lives.”
