Gannon University competes at the NCAA Division II level in 24 scholarship-granting varsity sports, including 14 women's, nine men's and one co-ed programs.
After spending 13 years as a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), the majority of the school's NCAA Division II teams have been competing in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) since 2008-09. Those sports include baseball, women's and men's basketball, women's and men's cross country, football, women's and men's golf, women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball, women's and men's swimming, volleyball and wrestling.
Acrobatics and tumbling (National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association), competitive cheer (National Cheerleaders Association), competitive dance (National Dance Alliance), women's wrestling (Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association), women's water polo (Western Water Polo Association) and men's water polo (Collegiate Water Polo Association) are the only programs which do not compete in the PSAC, which doesn't sponsor those sports.
Approximately 700 student athletes participate in varsity sports on the Gannon campus. We are proud of the fact that as a group, they maintain a 3.42 grade point average. Eighty-four carried a perfect 4.0 semester GPA during the 2023 spring semester.
In addition, we have a wide variety of intramural sports designed to meet our students' athletic interests and provide a healthy, competitive social atmosphere. These are organized into men's, women's, and co-ed leagues and teams. Gannon also has sideline cheerleading, pep bands, and a variety of club sports which are supported by the Student Government Association.
For those interested in competing at Gannon, we encourage prospective student-athletes to find out more about each program through this web site.
