2008 Spring A Team - Anthony Weaver

2008 Spring A Team - Anthony Weaver

Membership in the Golden Knight’s “A” Team represents the very best in intercollegiate athletics. Thirty-four students have qualified by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during the most recent completed semester. Gannon’s 341 student-athletes earned a cumulative GPA of 3.22 this past spring semester.

Anthony Weaver will return to Gannon this fall as a junior finance major and will play defensive back for Gannon’s football team. Weaver is one of the five football players to be added to the “A” team. He saw action in all eleven games of his sophomore year, and played in six games as a freshman. Weaver likes playing football at the college level because the competition is a lot better.

“The players are bigger, faster, and stronger. I like it because it tests my abilities more and drives me to work harder,” said Weaver. “My goals for the football team are to keep my starting role at safety and help lead our team to a great season.”

Weaver is not exactly sure what his career plans are at the moment, but with a degree in finance the opportunities are endless. He is considering going through General Electric’s 2-year leadership program and hopefully getting a job with them afterwards.

Weaver spent the summer continuing his spring co-op from the spring semester at General Electric. He also worked out with the football team to prepare for the 2008 season.
