Gannon University Athletics

Wendel was named co-captain for the 2014 team. She moved into fourth place on the school’s career-list for most assists with 3,021.

2013: Started in 33 of 34 total matches … named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete … received the NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Academic Achievement Award … selected All-PSAC Second Team and All-Atlantic Region Honorable Mention for the second straight year … nearly broke her own Gannon’s single-season assist mark, finishing with 1,273 after totaling 1,276 the previous year … totaled 50 assists or more five times, including a season-high 57 in a five-set win at Lock Haven … racked up a career-best six block assists against Lock Haven … dug a career-best 18 balls at California (Pa.) … averaged nearly 12 assists per set as the Lady Knights defeated Seton Hill and California (Pa.) to clinch a berth in the PSAC Tournament … dished out 47 assists and picked up 10 digs in the Lady Knights’ upset-win over Clarion in the PSAC Tournament quarterfinals.

2012: Enjoyed a brilliant sophomore year, being named to the All-PSAC second team ... earned All-Atlantic Region honorable-mention accolades during her first year as the starting setter ... broke Gannon’s single-season assist mark with 1,276 ... started every match and played every point of the season ... led a Gannon offense that ranked first among PSAC teams in kills and ranked second in hitting percentage ... averaged 10.46 assists per set, finishing just .01 behind Lock Haven’s Alexa Garrity for the PSAC lead ... showed great improvement on defense, finishing third on the team with 292 digs and contributing 45 blocks ... had at least 25 assists during every match ... eclipsed 40 assists 13 times ... set a season-high with 58 assists at Findlay ... broke the 50-assist plateau against Ohio Dominican ... had 48 assists and 13 digs during the semifinal and championship matches of the PSAC Tournament ... proved to be a threat on offense, hitting .283 with 79 kills ... had seven kills and hit a whopping .850 during a PSAC quarterfinal win against Mercyhurst ... scored a season-high 10 points against the Lakers ... had seven kills against California (Pa.) and West Chester ... reached double figures in digs 11 times, including a season-best 15 against Indiana (Pa.) ... blocked a season-best four attacks at Slippery Rock ... had a season-high three aces against Cheyney.

2011: Was a PSAC Scholar-Athlete … saw action in 27 matches, making seven starts … finished second on the team in assists (472) … averaged 5.76 assists and 1.39 digs per set … dished out 30 or more assists six times … finished with 17 assists and nine digs in her first collegiate match against Lindenwood … recorded 33 assists, eight digs and two kills in her second match against the University of Missouri-St. Louis … picked up her first career double-double with 36 assists and 10 digs against Shippensburg … set season-best marks in kills (4), block assists (2) and points (6) in the same match against the Raiders … followed the performance with 34 assists and five digs the same day against Millersville … recorded her second double-double with 32 assists and 12 digs during a 3-1 win over West Chester … led Gannon to a .234 attack percentage in matches where she dished out at least 20 assists … recorded at least two aces in four different matches. 

High School: Played for head coach Dan Coughlin at Kenston (Ohio) High School … was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter … named to the all-conference, all-district and all-state first teams as a senior … selected Chagrin Valley Conference and District Player of the Year … earned Cleveland Plain Dealer and Willoughby News Herald Player of the Week honors … named to the Hubbard Classic All-Tournament team … led Kenston to a 22-2 record and  a perfect 10-0 conference record as a senior … helped Kenston win 66 straight conference matches and a district championship … earned all-conference and all-district first-team honors as a junior … selected to the all-conference second team as a sophomore … landed a spot on the Rocky River Invitational All-Tournament team as a sophomore and junior … was an academic all-conference selection … named the Student of the Year in both English and art.
