The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team has been announced, and Gannon University placed two women's cross country student-athletes on the Academic All-District squad.
Sophomore
Emily Bowers (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek) and junior
Megan Ickes (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) represented the Golden Knights on the CSC Academic All-District Team.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees for Women's Track & Field/Cross Country will be announced on Wednesday, July 15.
The teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA , for each gender.
Student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and meet additional competition requirements to be eligible for the honor.
For cross country, CSC Academic All-District nominees must record a top-50 individual performance at the NCAA Regional Championship during the current academic year to be eligible for selection.
Bowers enjoyed a historic sophomore campaign for the Golden Knights. The Physical Therapy major owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA and became Gannon's first-ever PSAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year. She also made program history by becoming Gannon's first PSAC individual champion, capturing the conference title at the 2025 PSAC Championships.
Bowers continued her standout postseason by finishing second at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship, earning a trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She became the first female cross country student-athlete in program history to qualify for the national championship meet.
Ickes, a Nursing major with a 3.82 cumulative GPA, continued her strong academic and athletic career during the 2025 season. At the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship, she recorded a personal-best time of 22:27.80 and placed 34th in a field of 100 runners. Earlier in the postseason, Ickes finished 39th at the PSAC Championships to help the Golden Knights compete against the conference's top runners.
