ERIE, PA - Gannon's Tom Boyd has been named the NWCA Super Regional One Coach of the Year, it was announced by the organization.

Boyd led the Golden Knights to one of their best seasons in program history. Gannon set a program record for wins in a single season with 12, going 12-1 on the year. GU would win their third ever PSAC Championship during that record setting win, defeating UPJ, 18-12.

Following the regular season, Boyd steered Gannon to a dominant NCAA Super Regional One team championship, scoring more than 45 points better than the second place finishing team. In the process, GU would qualify nine of ten competitors for the NCAA Championship meet, and earn seven individual regional titles.

"I am truly grateful to receive this honor", said Boyd. "While I am the one holding the plaque, this award is not mine alone. I want to thank my fellow coaches, athletic training staff, and alumni for their support in pushing the program forward. They are the true winners of this award. We have an incredible program that continues to give back even following graduation, and I couldn't be prouder to be a small part of an amazing wrestling family."

Boyd and the Golden Knights will now prepare for NCAA Championships in Sioux Falls, SD on March 13th and 14th.
