CLARION, Pa. – No. 6 Gannon used a dominant third quarter to pull away from Clarion and secure an 85–60 PSAC West victory Wednesday evening at Tippin Gymnasium. The Golden Knights outscored the Golden Eagles 28–9 in the third period to turn a seven-point halftime lead into a commanding advantage.

Gannon shot 57.4 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from three-point range, building its largest lead at 28 late in the fourth quarter. The Golden Knights also finished 22-of-25 from the free-throw line and held Clarion to 32.7 percent shooting for the game.

Jordan Popyk (Novi, Mich./Novi) scored a career high 23 points, and was tied with Bri Claxon (South Webster, Ohio/South Webster) for a team high on the evening. Taylor Ethridge (Chesapeake, Va./Catholic) also had a career night, pouring in 12 for a career high.

And, the Golden Knights got some help. With Cal (PA)'s victory over IUP on Wednesday, it means the winner of GU/IUP on Saturday will clinch the PSAC West regular season title.

•Have a Night, Jordan - Jordan Popyk (Novi, Mich./Novi) poured in a career high 23 points, going 6-8 from the field and 8-8 from the free throw line.
• Bri x23 - Bri Claxon (South Webster, Ohio/South Webster) also tallied 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting on the night. She led the team in minutes with 31.
• The Aussie is Everywhere - Maddy Wheatley (Canberra, Australia/UCSSC Lake Ginninderra) added 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
• Another Career Evening - Taylor Ethridge (Chesapeake, Va./Catholic) chipped in a career high 12 points on 3-of-4 shooting from three-point range.
• Second Half Adjustments - Gannon outscored Clarion 28–9 in the third quarter, going 9-12 for 75% from the field in the frame.
• Shooting Touch - The Golden Knights shot 57.4% from the field and 88.0% at the free-throw line.
• It All Comes Down to This - With Cal (PA)'s victory over IUP on Wednesday, it means the winner of GU/IUP on Saturday will clinch the PSAC West regular season title. Both Gannon and IUP are 17-2 in conference play. The Crimson Hawks beat the Golden Knights, 68-63 back on January 17th at the Highmark Events Center.
