ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's soccer team erupted for four second-half goals to break a halftime tie and cruise to a 5-1 victory over California (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon at McConnell Family Stadium as part of Soctober Alumni Weekend.
Five different Golden Knights found the back of the net as Gannon improved to 9-2-2 overall and 9-2-1 in PSAC West play. Grace Emanuel (Erie, Pa./McDowell) opened the scoring in the first half before Maggie Piper (Stahlstown, Pa./Mt. Pleasant Area), Brooklyn Respecki (McKean, Pa./General McLane), Hannah Shepard (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Gianna Barela (Erie, Colorado/Erie) scored after the break to help Gannon pull away.
The victory also featured a pair of career milestones as Respecki moved into a tie for second place on Gannon's all-time career points list with 124, while Emanuel reached the 100-point mark to move into fifth place in program history.
