Parker Named PSAC West Baseball Player of the Week

First baseman recognized for second time this year

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Gannon University's Wes Parker (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) has been named the PSAC West Baseball Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 27. The conference announced its weekly awards this afternoon. This is the second time Parker has earned the honor.

The slugging first baseman led Gannon to five wins over the week as the Golden Knights remained in the chase for a PSAC West playoff berth. He hit .600 for the week, going 12-for-20 at the plate. He scored seven runs and drove in 13 runs, with three doubles, a triple and a home run. He had a 1.000 slugging percentage.

The junior from Venetia, Pa. began the week with a 3-for-4 effort in a 22-11 win over D'Youville. He scored four runs and had 5 RBIs with a home run and a triple.

On Friday Gannon swept a doubleheader at Lock Haven by identical 5-3 scores. He was 3-for-8 with 3 RBIs in the twinbill.

The two teams met again on Saturday at McConnell Family Stadium with Parker going 6-for-9 with three runs and 6 RBIs. He was 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs and a double in the opener, a 14-6 win. Gannon won the nightcap 21-1 with Parker going 4-for-4, scoring twice and driving in four runs. He had a pair of doubles.

Gannon concludes the regular season this week with four games against Indiana (Pa.). The Crimson Hawks visit McConnell Family Stadium on Thursday, May 1 before playing two more games at IUP on Friday, May 2.
