ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon men's wrestling team will send nine wrestlers to the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Wrestling National Championships. The Nationals are set for Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 at the Corteva Coliseum in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Golden Knights come off a highly-successful showing at the recent NCAA Div. II Super Regional 1. Gannon came in second as a team but more importantly qualified nine of ten wrestlers for the National Championships. That included a pair of regional champions, with Patrick Jackson (Harpers Ferry, WV/Spring Mills High) claiming the title at 174 lbs. and Dorian Crosby (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) dominating at heavyweight.

In addition, Logan Sallot (Erie, PA/McDowell High School) (125 lbs.) and Kenny Kiser (Meadville, Pa./Saegertown) (149 lbs.) took home second place and Jerry Echevarria (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) (133 lbs.), Caleb Chaves (Odenton, Md./Arundel) (141 lbs.), Ethan Richner (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area High) (157 lbs.), Nick Coreno (Willoughby, Ohio/Lake Catholic) (165 lbs.) and Eli Reese (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) (197 lbs.) finished third. The top three finishers in each weight class advanced to Nationals.

"This is why we do it!," exclaimed Boyd. "To wrestle at the National Championships. I am looking forward to taking these 9 guys to Nationals. They stepped-up last weekend. They showed a lot of grit. We need to take that energy to Indianapolis. We have been preparing for this since August. This is what we have worked for all season. We have had a great week of practice, and we will be ready to go.

A year ago Gannon sent eight wrestlers to Nationals. Two came away All-Americans, with Echevarria placing fifth at 133 lbs. and Coreno coming in sixth at 165 lbs.

Three of those eight national qualifiers return for a second straight trip to the National Championships. Richner is also making a return trip at 157 lbs.

The Golden Knights do possess a fourth multiple-time national qualifier in Crosby. The grad student spent the last four years at Bucknell and was a two-time Division I national qualifier at heavyweight. He had not wrestled since January 11 due to an injury before returning at the Super Regional 1 tournament and bringing home first place. He won by fall over defending Regional 1 champion and fifth-ranked Isaiah Vance of Pitt-Johnstown.

Crosby is one of two Golden Knights to earn seeds heading into Nationals. With a 21-3 record he is seeded fourth at heavyweight. Kiser is the highest-seeded Golden Knight coming in third at 149 lbs. with a 14-2 record. However, the redshirt junior, a transfer from Army, medical forfeited the championship bout to finish second at the Super Regional One and may come in at less than 100 percent.
