Acrobatics and Tumbling dominate in Home Opener

Golden Knights earn wins over Buffalo State and Trine

The third-ranked Gannon University Golden Knights acrobatics and tumbling team achieved a decisive victory over Buffalo State and Trine during a tri-meet held on Friday night at the Highmark Events Center. The Golden Knights recorded the highest score of the evening, totaling 257.28 points, while Trine finished with 174.45 points and Buffalo State with 165.03 points.

With the victory Gannon improved its season record to 2-1, while Trine's record stands at 1-1, and Buffalo State fell to 0-2.
Gannon's performance marked a rebound from a season-opening loss to 15th-ranked Duquesne the previous week, where they scored 5.96 points lower.

Head coach Brandy Duren was pleased with improvement by her team, "Last week was really disappointing and not how we wanted to represent Gannon University Acrobatics and Tumbling. This past week, the girls really took that to heart and wanted to show what the program is all about."

"We won because we changed our mindset and worked well together," said Alejandra Tosado (Sparks, Nev./Edward C. Reed). "The team built a strong foundation. By collaborating and keeping our energy high throughout the meet, we achieved a big victory."

Duren's squad demonstrated significant improvement in their scores across three events compared to the previous week, excelling in acrobatics, toss, and tumbling. The Golden Knights won each event by a considerable margin and maintained their lead throughout the competition.

Gannon finished with a total of 9.0 or better in 12 events during the evening compared to seven a week ago at Duquesne. The Golden Knights received the loudest cheer of the evening following their team performance.
