Volleyball Falls on the Road, Snaps PSAC West Regular-Season Win Streak

The Gannon volleyball team dropped its first PSAC West regular-season loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 3–1 on the road against California (Pa.).

The result snaps the Golden Knights' 11-match conference win streak, despite strong offensive efforts from Kasey Smith (Meadville, Pa./Villa Maria) and Lauren Atwell (Mars, Pa./Mars Area).

"I hate to admit it, but I was worried we might run into a situation like we did today, facing a team that wanted to win badly and was willing to outwork us, especially with an injury or illness in the mix. Cal outworked us and deserved to win," said head coach Matt Darling.

"Even though we're all disappointed with the result, this group still went 6–1 in conference road matches, that's why we're in first place. Now we need to dig deep and build some momentum again before the playoffs start."
