Gannon's Bengisu Arslan (Ankara, Turkey/Private Çankaya Doga Anatolian) has been named the PSAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week after leading the Golden Knights to two straight-set road wins and helping the program secure the top seed in the PSAC West standings over the weekend.
The recognition marks the second PSAC weekly award of Arslan's career and is the fifth weekly honor earned by the Gannon volleyball program this season.
Arslan totaled 62 assists (10.33/set) across the two matches, while adding 14 digs, 4 total blocks, and 3 service aces. She directed a balanced Gannon offense that saw multiple hitters contribute efficiently throughout the weekend.
Saturday's sweep at Indiana (Pa.) also featured a career milestone, as Arslan surpassed the 4,000-assist mark. She now sits at 4,026 career assists, becoming only the third player in program history to reach that benchmark.
She has also recorded 1,047 career digs, underscoring her role as the distributor and pace-setter of Gannon's offense.
With the win at IUP, Gannon officially clinched the top seed in the PSAC West. The Golden Knights still have four matches remaining in the regular season, with two on the road and two at home.
Gannon continues its four-match slate on Friday, November 7, at Seton Hill.
